We all had our opinions on Katy Perry's trip to sp We all had our opinions on Katy Perry's trip to space earlier this year.

Should she have gone? Were you envious? Disgusted? Embarrassed for her? Or just not particularly interested?

That 11 minute flight cost her in excess of £115,000.

And its estimated the building the New Shephard rocket cost Blue Origin upwards of $700 million.

And who owns Blue Origin?
The world's 3rd richest man, Jeff Bezos.

We obviously know Jeff Bezos best for being the part owner of Amazon - a company I'm not exactly a fan of.

In 2024 alone, Amazon made

$59.248 billion

Think about that for a second.

Globally, we've become so addicted to the convenience of the 1 stop shop, next day delivery service that feeds our need for the dopamine hit we get from buying something new.

So much so, it's funded the creation of a rocket built purely to satisfy the egos of the super rich.

That's where your money goes.
And on his extravagant wedding celebrations in Venice that cost in excess of $20 million.

Amazon customers paid for that too.

We could instead be supporting local independent businesses on our street that are probably struggling to pay the bills. Or we could be spending our hard on cash with businesses that donate a percentage of their profits to charity.

That feeling of spending your money with a business that genuinely appreciates it far outweighs the short lived dopamine hit from an impulse buy.

If this resonates, but you're not sure which brands you can trust, or where to start, I'm here to help.

This coming Tuesday evening (18th Nov) at 8pm I'm hosting my online Sustainable Gift shopping session.

Its full of inspiration on how to buy better, where you can save money and will ultimately save you time and headspace as you'll be able to tick so many Gift ideas off your list.

I've popped the link in my bio, or scan the QR code (swipe left) so you can snap up your seat.

The investment is £36.
A question for you... How often to you stop and c A question for you...

How often to you stop and consider where your purchases have come from?

Who made them? What conditions they work in?

What are the morals of the businesses you spend your hard earned money with?

Last week, Shein was due to open it's first physical store in Paris within a department store called BHV. However, due to the poor ethics of Shein, other brands within BHV have threatened to leave. Its been revealed that amongst all the other horrors of Shein, they now sell child-like sex dolls on their platform.

It's well documented that the other Chinese giant, Temu, have similarly poor ethics. A documentary called the Truth about Temu exposed practices such as selling climbing equipment with faked safety certificates and weapons without checking the age first.

Are these really the sort of companies we want to spend our money with - to line the pockets of the super rich owners that don't care who we are and will never appreciate our business?

Spending your money closer to home has so many benefits.

Research shows that £10 spent with a local independent shop means up to an additional £50 goes back into the local economy. This is simply because the nearby shop owners, who you are spending your money with, will then put that money back into your local community by going into local pubs and restaurants etc, circulating the money and allowing your community to thrive.

I've always found customer service to be so much better in small local businesses and small online businesses too. They genuinely appreciate every sale so are keen to make sure tou have a positive experience and use them again.

With online purchases from small UK companies, I've even found they pop a handwritten thank you note in with the package.

Being a little more consciously about who we spend with can also be better for the environment.

Next Tuesday evening (18th November) at 8pm, I'll be hosting my online Sustainable Gift shopping session where I'll introduce you to many ways of buying better in the run up to Christmas.

I'll even support you after the session with my unique personal eco shopper service - scan the QR code to book your seat. For £36.
Leave them be. That's it. That's all you need to Leave them be.

That's it.

That's all you need to do.

🍁 Those fallen leaves create a natural habitat for a variety of small creatures, including insects, spiders, and occasionally amphibians. These little critters use the leaves for shelter and protection from the cold.

🍁 Decomposing leaves are also a vital food source for many important organisms. They break down into rich organic matter, providing nutrients for soil-dwelling creatures, improving biodiversity in the process.

🍁A layer of leaves acts as a natural blanket, insulating the soil and plant roots from extreme temperature fluctuations. This helps protect plants and provides a warmer environment for hibernating animals.

🍁 Birds often forage through leaf litter to find insects and seeds. By leaving leaves on the ground, you’re creating a natural buffet for our feathered friends during the winter months.

🍁 As leaves decompose, they enrich the soil with organic matter, improving its structure and fertility. This leads to healthier plants and a more vibrant garden come spring.

So PLEASE dont go raking them up to put in a plastic bin bag!

The best options are:
🦔 Leave It Be: In less manicured areas of your garden, simply let the leaves lie where they fall.
🦔 Create Leaf Piles: For drives or pathways, gather the leaves into piles to create specific habitats for wildlife.
🦔 Mulch: Use shredded leaves as mulch around garden beds to provide the benefits of leaf litter while keeping your garden tidy.

Last Friday was F-ing fabulous! I had the absolut Last Friday was F-ing fabulous!

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Fearless Female Finance Festival- and it was just what I needed!

The Festival was the brainchild of the wonderful Karen Heap @sociallyshared and Jo Querelle at @purpleorchidbooks after having enough of hearing about women holding themselves back in their businesses (and in life)

As women, we've been conditioned to believe finances are the men's role in the household. We carry imposter syndrome and have absolutely no clue of our own value.

Well, things are changing.

On Friday, I discovered that within the next 10 years, 53% of the world's wealth will belong to women. Surprised?

I wasn't. Having spent my time as a business founder speaking to HUNDREDS of incredible, passionate and dynamic women, it feels like the tide is turning.

We are stepping out from the shadows. We have finding our voices. We are realising our worth.

But there is still work to do, so here are a couple of key takeaways from the phenomenal speakers -

"Earning money doesn't have to be about being rich, it's about feeling secure"

"We need more money to be in the hands of GOOD people" (and this does include tou gents too)

"The more I earn, the more I can give"

"Charging my worth is not about arrogance, it's about accuracy"

These definitely hit home for me.

So a huge shout out to the Fearless forces that shared their wisdom.
Rachel Hill @metro_bank
Anne Wordsworth @cubeaccountingsolutions
Jo Querelle @purpleorchidbooks
Sue Green @rixgreenltd
Roisin Ni Chonghaile @truepotentialllp
Wendy Garcarz @wendygarcarzconsulting
Dawn Owen @dawnowencoach

And the one and only Sandra Godley @sangodley for being a Fearless fabulous co-host.

Time to take control - unapologetically and fearlessly.
My cup is full to the brim! Being a solo business My cup is full to the brim!

Being a solo business owner can feel like a lonely journey sometimes.

The most powerful remedy for me has been networking. I cannot begin to tell you how many incredible people I've had the privilege to meet over the last few years.

One of my very favourite people is Meeta Darji @naturallynourishedwithmeeta

Her passion for improving our lives through mindset work, EFT and through bringing together a gorgeous group of wellness professionals is a source of inspiration.

This morning was our monthly meet up and, following Meeta's lead, we all shared our vulnerability- as she has created a space that feels safe enough for us to be honest and open. And the support we all receive in return means we no longer feel alone, or stuck, or lost. Its so powerful and I feel genuinely privileged to be a part of this group.

As a member, I also had the opportunity to share my passion for my business and the journey that bought me to where I am today. And looking through the photos Meeta kindly shared with me - I clearly wave my hands around a LOT when I'm sharing my passion.

And if that wasn't enough to leave me feeling grateful for deep connections, I then went on the meet up with Keira from Positive Chamge hypnotherapy - we've met so much this year, but only online so it was so good to catch up in person. And we really covered all the topics! And before we knew it 1.5hrs had flown by, the true sign of an instant connection.

So today I'm feeling extra fortunate for the fabulous people in my world.
Today is 1 of my favourite days of the year. And Today is 1 of my favourite days of the year.

And it's got nothing to do with fireworks or bonfires.

Today is the final of the Earthshot prize.

Inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s 1962 ‘Moonshot’ to land a man on the moon within a decade, The @earthshotprize was founded by HRH Prince William in 2020 to spark the same spirit of collective ambition for our planet.

Protect and Restore nature
Clean our Air
Revive our Oceans
Build a Waste Free World
Fix our Climate

And let me tell you, it's the dose of hope and inspiration you never knew you needed.

The innovation and dedication of all the nominees and finalists is simply awe inspiring.

Amongst this years finalists is the City of Bogotá which has implemented bold clean air policies to cut air pollution by 24% since 2018, redesigning how 8 million people move and live, and building a healthier, greener city.

Another finalist, Lagos Fashion Week is transforming one of the world’s most wasteful industries by creating a new fashion economy: one rooted in purpose, sustainability and cultural integrity.

Over in Australia, Quay Quarter Tower, the world’s first fully upcycled skyscraper, shows how retrofitting high-rise towers can replace demolition, cut waste and carbon and offer a blueprint for sustainable urban growth.

Volunteers, scientists, innovators - people from all walks of life in all parts of the planet are fighting to repair this Earth that we rely on for everything we need in order to live a healthy stable life.

Why would you not want to watch?

Oops. I did a thing. Something I very rarely do. Oops.

I did a thing.

Something I very rarely do.

I bought something on impulse. 🫣

This is not an easy admission to make as I'm so careful about what I buy, who I buy from - and I try to wait as long as possible to make sure it's something I NEED before actually making the purchase.

However, I am human.

So after watching an ad on Instagram for these Flash Hammers, I quickly snapped up 2 - 1 for each car.

These gadgets help you to break the window if your car ever ends up underwater.

Not a nice thought- but as I have 2 children- and with instances of flooding on the increase, my reaction was that for the sake of £30 I could save our lives. Sounds dramatic, I know, but I did not want to regret not buying them.

So I impulse bought.

It's so easy to do isn't it?

So I'm here to help you avoid those impulse purchases in the run up to Christmas.

I'm here to help you make more eco-friendly gift choices

I have so many suggestions for more meaningful and memorable Christmas gift ideas.

On 18th November at 8pm I'll be hosting my Sustainable Gift shopping session and I'd love you to join.

From the comfort of your own home, I'll help you tick off gift suggestions for all your friends and family.

I'll also be on hand to help you for 4 weeks after the session with my personal eco shopper service.

All for just £36.

I could watch these for hours. Keeping chickens a I could watch these for hours.

Keeping chickens and ducks was the thing I never thought I needed, until I moved in with my now husband 18 years ago.

He had 2 lavender bantams, the small chickens with the fluffy feet. I was smitten.

And we've had these gorgeous, funny and entertaining creatures in our lives ever since.

They're actually my excuse to escape the screen when I'm working, and during Lockdown, when I needed a few minutes to myself, the chooks and ducks were my place to find some peace.

They all have different personalities and it's even been proven that chickens display empathy. 😍

As well as being good for my mental health, they're also great for reducing food waste! Any leftover scraps are given to them and disappear in seconds. Other than carrots. For some reason, they're just not a fan.

In 2010, a town in Limburg, Belgium, experimented with distributing chickens to around 2000 volunteer families - with a commitment they could not give them away or use them as food for at least two years.

The results were phenomenal - in the first month, local landfills recorded 45,000kg less food being sent to landfill. This is a huge environmental win as food waste will emit methane when sent to landfill, which is a more potent greenhouse gas the carbon dioxide.

Chickens, will eat everything from vegetable peels, rice and pasta to fruit scraps - and in return provide high-quality eggs as a thank you.

There are many fabulous organisations in the UK that rescue chickens from farms that would otherwise send them for slaughter at just 18 months old - they can easily live to 3 years.

Seems like an all round win to me.

Hope. Remember that? Hope for a better world and Hope.

Remember that?

Hope for a better world and a brighter future.

We've become so 'head down' and focused on the day to day grind that we forget to lift our heads and see what's really going.

Today, I lifted my head.

Today, I spent the day surrounded by like minded people from a wide variety of backgrounds, industries and motivations at the @sustainability_unconference - The Midlands' Sustainability UnConference.

The Unconference was set up to bring together any Midlands based individuals in order to discuss everything from system change to how we spark joy in degrowth.

While we were all very much on the same page, hearing so many different perspectives and experiences was fascinating.

The action taken by the individuals in that room alone is enough to inspire hope. Being surrounded by dozens of passionate action takers has been a vital reminder of the progress being made that we just don't have an awareness of.

Progress IS being made. Action IS being taken - and by so many everyday folk.

Thanks so much to Aaron Mckellar @inspirepromoproducts for the invitation and to @drvickylofthouse for always being fabulous company.

I've left invigorated and encouraged - and with even more hope than I had yesterday.
This morning, I drank a cold cup of tea. In betwe This morning, I drank a cold cup of tea.

In between unpacking after a couple of days away, making breakfast, tidying up after breakfast, 'encouraging' my kids to get dressed as its half term week and and and.... (all the things) drinking my tea while it was still warm clearly was a bit ambitious!

Running a household while the kids are at home is not easy. While you're busy tidying up 1 area, they're busy making a mess of another room.

And then there's the bills to pay, food to buy, dinnera to plan, friends to try and visit - and somewhere in there - attempting to run a business.

It's a lot.

Fortunately, my parents then took the kids out for lunch and I had an hour being coached by the sensational @dawnowencoach who helped me sort my thoughts and left me feeling much less stressed.

Having someone help with our mental load cannot be underestimated.

That's why signing up for my Sustainable Gift shopping session is such a no brainer.

Not only does the 1 hr session inspire you with different Gift suggestions, giving you back some headspace, I also help source said gifts for you.

So mark 18th November at 8pm in your diary, as time for you. This is an investment in yourself. Freeing up even a small.amount of time in the run up to Christmas is invaluable.

For £36, this is too good to be missed.
