You’re already more eco-friendly than you realise

You’re already more eco-friendly than you realise

by Lyn Lapworth

When was the last time you yelled ‘close the door behind you!’ (were you born in a barn??)  or ‘who left the lights on?!’ Why do you think you do that? These are habits we’ve applied over the years, without even realising it’s...
Why being Eco-friendly is more affordable than you think

Why being Eco-friendly is more affordable than you think

by Lyn Lapworth

How it all began In October 2020 a friend of mine made a comment about how she thought being eco-friendly was expensive. This was a real light bulb moment – there and then, I knew I had to do something to prove otherwise. I had 2 young children and as a family...

Today could not have been any bigger. I'm sat try Today could not have been any bigger.

I'm sat trying to process the incredible energy in a room full of wonderful women.

The impact of my first time attending the @greatwomeninbizuk event is huge.

So it will take a while to process.

It's not a coincidence this event coincides with #internationalwomensday26 - we were brought together to celebrate and to be inspired.

The utterly wonderful Karen Heap has created an event that brings 5 women's networks together.

Karen's @sociallyshared Womens Business Support Network

@sharonlouca 💎 and her @Women's Business Network

@sandragarlickmbe with her Woman Who community

@dawnowenbusinesscoach with her Business Badasses

And new for this year, our very own @athenawarks powerhouse, Holly Nixon.

Each lady spoke on a specific element of getting the best out of our networking. Just showing up and hoping for the best won't cut it, particularly in an age of so much noise.

And hosted by the legend that is @sangodley

I'm very blessed to be a part of these ladies worlds - and lost count of the number of hugs from today (I even had 2 hugs from Dawn! Unheard of ☺️)

Networking is such a powerful business tool, when you know how to use it effectively. And now a room full of fabulous business women have the knowledge to uplevel.

Can't wait for next year! (March 8th - not to be missed!)

Did you know you're breathing in 6g of microplasti Did you know you're breathing in 6g of microplastics every week?

Every single week?! 😱

While its a scary thought, there are ways of reducing plastic in your home environment.

This will not only benefit your health it will reduce your carbon footprint at the same time as plastic is an oil based product.

But where do you start?
To help you on your way, I recommend signing up to @thebigplasticcount - a UK based initiative that starts next week.

Currently there are over 41,000 people signed up, so please please don't sit back and think you can't make any difference. It's VITAL we all change our buying habits, 1 simple swap at a time.

This initiative will not only help you track how much plastic packaging in your shop (I know you don't want to know but how else will you track your progress?) - but it will help you feel part of something much bigger too.

And when you're ready to start making 1 small swap at a time, come and talk to me. I've cut out 90% of plastic from my food shop (yes I do still have some plastic in my home 😅)

YOUR buying habits directly influence what the supermarkets sell and how they sell it.

Your choices matter.

Collective action is the best way of sending a message to the food industry and for you to feel you have some control over this Environmental disaster.

What are you waiting for?
Come and join us.

A slightly different slant on #worldbookday... Ce A slightly different slant on #worldbookday...

Celebrating a publisher.

5 years ago @harpercollins proved how thoughtful change can have a huge impact.

In order to reduce their carbon footprint, they changed the font they used to print their books. How does this make a difference?

The font they chose was more compact, meaning they could fit more words to a page. The result - less pages required per book.

We think of books as a fairly eco friendly gift, however, an estimated 3.4 billion trees will be cut down to feed the global book industry this decade.

So this change by Harper Collins is very welcome. Also, through carefully planned design they have reduced paper demand further and in 2024 saved over 183 million pages.

If you read their most recent Sustainability update, it's inspiring work!

It's a perfect demonstration of how better planning and more thoughtful design can have a huge impact on reducing our demand on this 1 planet.
I'm a bit of a science geek. While I'm no profess I'm a bit of a science geek.

While I'm no professor, I do know that it's pretty difficult to argue with the facts our scientists uncover.

So applying the science backed approach of making small changes to everyday habits when helping others to live a more eco friendly lifestyle was a no brainer.

Setting ourselves big goals often sets us up to fail. It takes effort and energy, feels too hard, so we give up before we've really started. And let's face it we're all time poor aren't we, so finding the energy and effort in the first place alrrady feels hard.

Creating lasting habit change starts with 1 small step. Beginning with new micro-habits that feel achievable builds momentum, which in turns builds confidence.

And it feels good.
Creating positive lasting change feeds that inner glow.

So if you're looking for lasting change in your life that your brain won't find too difficult, this is the way to start living more sustainably.

Drop me a message if you'd like to find out more.
Well today was a day!! I was back at the @fsb_uk Well today was a day!!

I was back at the @fsb_uk Bootcamp to rub shoulders with so many inspiring small business owners.

The Federation of Small Businesses is the voice the represents us small business founders with regulation change, legal matters, financial support etc and is basically on hand to offer us the advice we need, when we need it.

And this year, the event hosts were none other than local legends @sandragarlickmbe and @mguruuk

As always, we were treated to an array of insightful speakers and I was thrilled to see a couple of my business buddies up on that stage.

@naturallynourishedwithmeeta and @zhr_marketing smashed it, sharing their wisdom on money mindset and marketing fundamentals - demystifying some seriously important topics for a small business owner.

And it's always great to hear @purepegasuscoaching @barbacreative @spaghetti_agency and @sangodley share the knowledge of their experience too.

As always, I came away with a boost to my business and a top up of hugs from a room full of friends.

Let's address the elephant in the room. You like Let's address the elephant in the room.

You like your holidays abroad, which often means having to fly.

You like cheese, so a vegan diet is off the plate (☺️)

Solar panels and heat pumps come at a price and you've no idea whether EV's are the most sustainable option even if you could afford one.

But just because you're resistant to the BIG stuff doesn't mean you can't make a difference elsewhere.

Focusing on small changes in your lifestyle seems pointless.

But every week I speak to people who have made changes. Almost every conversation I have with someone new, they volunteer ways they have made an effort to be that bit more eco-friendly.

I see it so often. So don't be thinking it's just you - it really isn't.

Sustainable living is a quiet revolution (to pinch a phrase from Zoë Roddis)

It's easier than ever to buy preloved, there are many many eco brands and zero waste stores to choose from and plastic carrier bags have been all but replaced by reusable bags for our supermarket shop.

So while the big stuff feels out of reach, focusing on what you can change is the way forward.

You have much more power than you realise.

There are 3 weeks left in which to sign up for my RAMP up your Sustainability program.

Realistic, Affordable, Manageable and Practical changes to your everyday habits.

We know this is how to make lifestyle changes that stick.

So DM me today for details on joining my next group of eco conscious women.
#supportsmallbusiness It's that simple. We've all #supportsmallbusiness
It's that simple.

We've all been caught out by buying something in a rush, then finding it takes a long time to arrive - because it's come from the other side of the planet.

By simply adding UK to your criteria, you can reduce the footprint of that item and support the UK economy... ideally by buying from a small local business.

For every £10 spent with a local business, £2.26 is recirculated within the local community.

I'd call that an all round win.

We have blue sky and sunshine AND temperatures in the double figures. ☀️

And my goodness it makes a difference doesn't it?

My morning call was cancelled today so I took the opportunity to get out for an early walk.
It was blissful!

I even spotted the first daffodils.

If you're in need of some fresh air, Wednesday is going to feel distinctly Spring like.

Spring is my favourite season as it's when nature comes alive!

Flowers, insects and newborn lambs in the fields.

I'm ready for it!

Are you feeling your energy shift?

Today, I'm feeling all the feels. I'm not going t Today, I'm feeling all the feels.

I'm not going to lie, yesterday, I got a little emotional.

I held the Final review session for last years March intake - and the feedback from these women left me bursting with pride.

We reviewed the progress they've made since the start of my RAMP program - and as I sat and listened to these ladies talk about the changes they've made, I was overcome with how much more confident they felt about the difference they were making.

The enthusiasm radiated from them. The realisation of how far they'd come had dawned. And the gratitude we all felt for going on this journey together was a real moment.

So the Class of March 2025 - thank you from the bottom of my heart for your commitment to making those small changes that stick and for showing up for yourself, your family and their future.

These ladies are all busy juggling work, families, kids - and still chose to set 1hr a month aside to take those all important steps towards treading more lightly on this planet.

And their reward is a new found mindset, an inner confidence - and a copy of my Guide to Sustainable Living to refer back to at any time.

I am beyond proud.

When you're ready to step in to your power, I am here.
